Ultra-white glass (also known as low-iron glass) is ultra-high transparency glass made by strictly controlling the iron (Fe) content in the raw material (below 0.015%) and using a special melting process.
Features
1. Extreme optical performance
(1) Visible light transmittance ratio:
6mm thickness →91.5% (88% of ordinary glass)
10mm thickness →90.2% (85% of ordinary glass)
(2) UV transmittance: ≤40% (ordinary glass≤60%) to slow down the aging of indoor items.
(3) Chromatic aberration control: CIE Lab chromaticity coordinate a*value ≤0.5 (ordinary glass a*=5~8) to eliminate the green edge effect.
2. Super mechanical properties
(1) Strength after tempering: Flexural strength ≥150MPa (120MPa for ordinary glass).
(2) Self-detonation rate: ≤0.01% (very little nickel-sulfur impurities, 0.3% of ordinary glass).
3. Thermal stability and safety
(1) Coefficient of thermal expansion: 8.5×10⁻⁶/K (close to steel), suitable for composite structures.
(2) Deep processing compatibility: can be tempered, sandwiched, and coated.
4. Aesthetic and design values
(1) Crystal texture: no background color interference, perfectly restore the true color of the object (standard on museum display cases).
(2) Concealed frame effect: When used for all-glass curtain walls, the glue seams are almost invisible.
Applications
1. High-end buildings and curtain walls
(1) All-glass curtain wall: Commercial buildings uses ultra-white laminated glass, with a light transmittance of 91.3%.
(2) Lighting roof: Airport curved ultra-white glass roof to reduce steel shading shadows.
(3) Luxury store windows: use ultra-white glass to enhance the visual impact of goods.
2. Home & Interior Design
(1) Frameless shower enclosure: 10mm tempered ultra-white glass, safe and visually transparent.
